This 83sqm property in the heart of Chamonix, spanning the width of an apartment block, has undergone a completely bespoke renovation. The design takes inspiration from the Belle Époque period, reflecting the historical essence of Chamonix’s oldest buildings.
With the north side of the property overlooking the bustling pedestrian street and the south side offering picturesque views of the river and the Aiguille du Midi, the client’s desire to wake up to the south presented a unique challenge. The solution was a series of crafted wooden panels framing either floated glass or mirror. These not only conceal functional aspects like the TV but also slide to create a flexible living space. Thanks to a multifunctional wall concealing a folding bed and desk, the result is a versatile area where one can sleep, work, and relax without compromising the spatial flow.
The bespoke kitchen, developed in collaboration with Capisco patination, is another highlight. The oak details from the bedroom wall were carried through, and patinated brass replaced the padded linen, reflecting the textures and tones of alpine flora found at high altitudes. This approach created a kitchen that is as much a work of art as it is a functional space.
