Plié

A furniture collection built from single lengths of steel tube, hand-pinched and bent into faceted skeletal frames that define each piece's form.

About

Plié is a process led collection of furniture based on the idea of making structural frameworks made from single lengths of steel. Alex has developed a way of methodically pinching lengths of steel tube to create tubular faceted skeletons, structures from which furniture can immerge. The aesthetic of the collection is entirely defined by the process by which it is created.
Intermittently crushing the structural integrity of the metal enables him to hand bend the tube, looping it back on itself to join the two ends. Minimising quantity of components whilst maximising flow and continuity of the pieces. One’s eye is continuously drawn around the metal skeleton of each piece.
