Alex was commissioned by St James Street Big Local and Waltham Forest Council to create some street furniture for the newly renovated St James Street are of Walthamstow.
Situated at the busy gateway of the High Street leading down Coppermill Lane to the Walthamstow Wetlands nature reserve, in an area of London with a proud history of creativity and making. This project was made from reclaimed Iroko worktops sourced from local schools and was inspired by the fluidity of water, seamlessly blending in with the movement of people and made with craft techniques similar to that of boat building. The result is a series of strikingly dynamic and contemporary benches which contrast nicely with the restored Victorian shopfronts.
